Uncovered Religions…Buddhism
Lately, I have been interested in other religions. Its good to understand others beliefs so you’ll be more educated about them and also if someone would come up to you and start telling you their beliefs, you’ll be more able to know whats right and whats wrong. So I decided that I’m going to be doing my blog’s on some of the different religions of the world throughout this week.
Today, I want to tell you the facts about Buddhism:
*It becoming one of the leading, well-known religions of the western hemisphere.
* They are divided into two categories: Theravada (small vessel) and Mahayana (large vessel). Theravada is the monastic form which reserves ultimate enlightenment and nirvana for monks. Mahayana Buddhism extends this goal of enlightenment to the laity as well, that is, to non-monks.
*Buddha’s never like to call themselves “God”, but a “way-shower”.
*Sin is largely understood to be ignorance.
*Therefore there is no need for a Jesus’ character to rescue people from their damning sins. For the Christian Jesus is the only means of rescue from eternal damnation over our personal (and imputed) sins. For the Buddhist there is only ethical living and meditative appeals to exalted beings for the hope of perhaps achieving enlightenment and ultimate Nirvana.
*Who created the world? Buddha is said to have kept silent because in Buddhism there is no beginning, and no end, instead there is an endless circle of birth and death.
* For Buddhists there is no merciful Father in heaven who sent His Son to die for our souls, for our salvation, to provide the way for us to reach His glory. The Buddha taught that people don’t have individual souls for the individual self or ego is an illusion.

WOW, I can’t imagine being a part of this religion. They have very opposite beliefs and I have no idea what I would think, knowing that i’m part of God’s family.
But please leave comments on what you know or think about Buddhism.

Interesting report you have there. I have not been into other religions other mine. I have concluded that man, separated by great time and space, everywhere, has each arrived at the conclusion of the existence of the divine. The differences are, I guess, in the forms of worship and beliefs of the divine. And they are interesting.

There are a few similarities with Buddhism and Christianity. Karma, what goes around comes around. Both accept someone as their teacher, Budhdha in this instance.
